Last Friday I hosted past and present students to a holiday party where last semester’s Visual Perception Class presented their books of 26-30 images based on their projects. We had a book of neon images, another covering the city of Lawrence, and a compilation of images of sounds. We had a great time.

Another thing that’s happened is that my rabbi asked me to do his eulogy… oh sorry, I thought I was Mitch Albom… Nobody’s gonna read this anyway, it’s more a test of my communication director’s ability to upload blogs.

Stay tuned for real good blogging ahead.

And if you believe that one….

I will be putting together class schedules for my winter courses to start January 4th 2010.I will be offering to following classes:

Introduction To Digital SLR…this is an 8 week class designed to teach you how to use you DSLR,the basics of photography and what makes a good image. This foundation course is rigorous in that there are weekly assignments where you will shoot at least 200/week as well as shoot a final project.

Intermediate Digital SLR…this is a continuation of the intro class and covers use of on and off camera flash, file types, printing and more emphases on good image making and also is demanding in that weekly assignments as well as a longer final project is required.

Portraiture..we will learn both studio and small flash lighting, as well as how to use natural light more effectively. Will will being shooting models each week in and out of the studio and will critique in each class. There will be time spent on working with models ie:posing and loosing up techniques as well as Photoshop/Photo Element work.

Photoshop/Photo Elements..We will work to gain a basic understanding of these softwares. We’ll learn how to use layers and work so we don’t damage images.By the end of the class you will be able to work your way around the software and experiment with your images. In addition we will learn to use Camera Raw.

With all the classes that I teach, the importance of great images is stressed..the technical part is only an avenue to get there…after you take a class you will never look at a photograph the same way.

This is our first blog and we run a photography studio in Amesbury, MA. Were we also run a series of classes (for more information look on the website). Each June we run a student show for the month. The majority of the students that have taken classes during the school year present framed images for viewing and sale. In our classes although we teach most technical aspects of digital photography we emphasize both creativity and strong intellgently shot images.

The reception is Friday May 29th from 7 to 9 and the gallery will be open Wednesdays thru Sundays for the month of June, from 11 to 5 and Thursday & Friday nights til 8.

Starting next Thursday we will be posting a new blog each week dealing with both the technical and creative aspects of photography.
